Rhinoplasty | Nose Job

Rhinoplasty (nose job) is a surgery aimed to change the shape of the nose. The shape of the nose is often inherited by the parents, and it continues to develop until puberty. On the other hand, it can also be the result of an injury or of an unsuccessful surgery.

The nose is on the center of the face, thus affecting the proportions, the symmetry and the harmony of the face. Moreover, its distinct feature is that it is protruding in the face, which means that it is visible from all angles and it cannot be covered (e.g. with glasses, make-up, hair). This is the reason why a pretty nose really highlights the whole face.

By changing the shape of a deformed nose (Rhinoplasty), we really alter the whole face. It becomes more expressive and beautiful, offering the candidate confidence and psychological harmony.

Apart from the harmony and the beauty it provides, the nose is an organ of breathing. When we breathe properly form the nose, we avoid pathological conditions like rhinitis, sinusitis, otitis, headaches, sleep apneas. The plastic surgeon can, during the same surgery, correct the problems in the nose that hinder proper breathing (nasal septum deviation, inferior turbinate hypertrophy etc.), thus ensuring better breathing. This creates conditions of peaceful sleep, as well as a feeling of well being, both of which improve the candidate’s physical and mental abilities.

The appropriate age:
During childhood, the nose continues to grow until puberty, when nasal growth stops. Inside the nose there are bones and cartilages, together with their growth zones. In case the nose surgery is performed prematurely, before the face has stopped developing, there is a possibility that these centers will get damaged and that the nose will not develop properly. Furthermore, at this age the rest of the features of the face develops, features that play a vital role in the decision to alter the characteristics of the nose. This means that the decision to undergo rhinoplasty should not be made, before the age of 17 for women and 18 for men.

There is no upper age limit for rhinoplasty, provided that the candidate is in good general health.

Techniques in Rhinoplasty

Nasal access:During plastic surgery, access inside the nose is secured, either with the open rhinoplasty technique or the close rhinoplasty technique. The distinct characteristic of an open rhinoplasty is that incisions are made inside the nose, close to the outer part of the nostrils, and that another incision is performed on the columella (the vertical part of the nose, located between the two nostrils). The plastic surgeon, through these incisions, can reveal and have direct visibility to almost all the nasal skeleton. Moreover, skeletal correction maneuvers are greatly facilitated, especially when nasal implants need to be used, a procedure which is a ...

The ProcessClinical Examination:During the first clinical examination, Dr. Georgiou will examine your nose both internally and externally. Some photographs will be taken and based on them you will be better able to explain what you have in mind and how you imagine your nose.A simulation will be used, so you can have an idea, on how your nose will look like after surgery. We cannot guarantee the result though, because the computer does not take into consideration tissue elasticity and the healing ability of each organism.Afterwards, he will explain to you exactly how the surgery works and what corrections can ...

Non surgical Rhinoplasty

Non-surgical nose job (non-surgical rhinoplasty) is performed using injectable fillers (hyaluronic acid) and Botox, to restore a more symmetric look to your nose. Controlled and precise injections from the plastic surgeon can make the nose look more proportional and smaller in the facial frame. The results are instantaneous and there is essentially no recovery, unlike surgery. There are many ways a plastic surgeon can reshape the nose with fillers. The most common is to diminish the appearance of bumps on the nose. By injecting the bridge above the bump, it makes it appear straighter. This cannot, however, make a bridge ...
